cc99 - eco and other logical imperatives
Ecological crises are many (global warming, deforestation, habitat loss and degradation, ozone depletion, air and water pollution) and with current global practices, unavoidable.
It's the way
money works. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, and the earth suffers. People and nations will do anything to get more of it, even sell their own children into slavery when desperate.Corporations, with the support of governments and the world bank, exploit people and resources all over the world, exhausting both and moving on to more profitable territories. We continue to witness increased cultural oppression and the erosion of civil society wherever business and government is allowed to operate without adequate social and environmental protection and enforcement of these laws.
Clearly, the global economic system, fueled by money, is a zero sum game which has only one possible outcome. Unless there is a global paradigm shift, or a miracle, an ecological collapse is a certainty. The challenge of
Y2K presents the opportunity to change these destructive patterns of behaviour. But only if we act intelligently now.
